For my birthday this year, I'd like to try a little Social Networking experiment and I would love your help.
Today, I'm going to donate $100 to charities and non-profit organizations. The way that I'm going to do this is by donating to 10 different causes in "micro-donation" chunks of $10 each. What I'd like from my friends and family are ideas about where to donate the money. I'll be soliciting ideas all day via the web, Facebook and Twitter.
Causes that accept credit card donations over the web are preferable, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't consider an organization that didn't. If you'd like to help out, send me your idea for a donation. Tomorrow, I'll post the 10 entities I choose to donate to, links to their websites and why I chose to give them money. If you feel like you'd like to give me a birthday present I would love it if you gave $10 to a charity or cause that you like to support and send me an email letting me know.
Thanks for all of your help! I'm really interested to see what we come up with!
I've given to carbonfund.org and Heifer International in the past year, and both offer online giving! Also, komen.org for breast cancer (my friend Marcie is a survivor) and mda.org (my friend Shawn died from MD a few years ago).
I also give to Children's Hospital (don't know if they do online giving), college radio (I support both the Underground at OSU and ACRN at Ohio -- ACRN can be supported online at ohio.edu/development and designating ACRN The Rock Lobster), and too many other Central Ohio charities and non-profits to list.
Happy Birthday! I just gave to college radio in your honor!

Hhhmmmmm, very interesting. Now anybody can give money, so let's take it a step farther.... Instead of donating funds, donate your time. Everybody loves Jimmy Carter. Swing a hammer for Habitat for Humanity, There is a chapter in Sandtown. Or the Jones Falls Watershed Association is having a stream cleaning on April 4th. Participate with either of those, or one of your choosing, and I'll sweeten the pot with a $20 donation (I figure I'll be contributing $10 on behalf of Justin's hard work too. I apologize to him in advance :-)
Happy Birthday!
